Frequently asked questions about lessons in Baqueira
Everything people ask us before they come: prices, where we meet, languages, kids, freeride, cancellations and the 2026-27 season.
How much do ski lessons in Baqueira cost?
A private lesson costs €70 per hour for one or two people, and each additional person is €5 more per hour. Group lessons are €35 per person per hour, with a minimum of three. Kids are €28 per child per hour. Freeride is €90 per hour for up to four people. From 15 hours the hourly price drops by 10%, and from 20 hours by 15%. Lift pass and equipment not included.
Who are the instructors?
They are ski professionals from Spain's best resorts, hand-picked. The school was founded by Xema Aurell, born in the heart of the Aran Valley and two-time Catalonia champion. The team also includes Zapico, who wins on the Freeride World Tour and coaches students who compete at Junior level. You can meet them one by one on the instructors page.
Where do we meet for the lesson?
You choose the meeting point when you book: the Baqueira 1500, Tanau 1700, Bonaigua or Orri car park. If you're unsure, we'll show you the map or suggest the most convenient one for your level and time. We send you the exact location on WhatsApp the evening before, with the day's snow forecast. The office is in Vielha, twenty minutes by car from the resort.
Which languages do you teach in?
We teach in Spanish, Catalan, Aranese, English and French. Someone on the team also speaks Basque. Tell us your language when you book and we'll assign an instructor who speaks it.
What if I've never skied?
It's what we do most. Choose the green level when you book: we start in the beginner area, with equipment on and no lifts until you want. Most adults who start from zero ski a blue run by day three.
From what age do you take children?
From 4 years old. Kids' groups have 4 to 6 children with the same instructor every day, so they build confidence with one person. The standard course is 4 days of 3 hours for €336 per child, with a level report at the end.
Are the lift pass or equipment included?
No, neither. The lift pass is bought at the resort. Equipment is rented at The Pow House Shop in Vielha, with a 20% discount if you book 20 hours or more with us. We reserve it for you so it's ready when you arrive. For the rest of your gear (helmet, goggles, protection or technical clothing) we work with partner shops, and the discount depends on the item: we confirm it by WhatsApp.
Do I need to book in advance?
At Christmas, Semana Blanca and Easter, yes, with several weeks' notice, because we are a small team and places run out. The rest of the season we usually have space with two or three days' notice. You book and pay online and we confirm within two hours.
Do you do freeride or off-piste?
Yes, it's one of our specialities. Xema and Kike guide freeride days for up to four people at 90 € an hour, safety equipment included. A full 6-hour day is 540 € for the group. Red or black level is required. And on special dates, on request only, you can also spend a day with Luís, Freeride World Tour Junior 2024 champion: message us on WhatsApp.
Can I spend a day with Luís, the Freeride World Tour champion?
Yes, but only on special dates and on request. Luís is the Freeride World Tour Junior 2024 champion and is not part of the regular lesson roster: message us on WhatsApp with the day you'd like and we'll confirm whether he's available and how to plan the day. Red or black level is required.
Do you teach snowboarding?
Yes. We have instructors who specialise in skiing and instructors who specialise in snowboarding, for families and students who want to step up with professionals. When you book you choose ski or snowboard and we assign the instructor who fits best.
Do you train people who want to compete?
We can talk about it. Zapico wins on the Freeride World Tour and coaches students who compete at Junior level. If you or your child want to level up with professionals, message us on WhatsApp and we'll see how to approach it.
Half day or full day?
For beginners we recommend a half day, 2 or 3 hours: the tiredness of the first days is more muscular than people expect and the last hours yield little. From blue level, a 4 to 6 hour day pays off, especially in freeride.
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes. If you let us know 48 hours ahead, or for a justified reason (illness, injury, or the resort closing for wind or lack of snow), we give your lessons back so you can enjoy them on another date this season. The booking is paid in full when you book.
What do I do if there's an emergency on the slopes?
Tell your instructor, who knows how to act. The Baqueira Beret emergency number for the slopes is +34 973 639 050 and the resort has a medical centre. In a serious emergency, always call 112.
When does the season open in Baqueira?
Baqueira Beret expects to open the 2026-27 season on 28 November 2026 and close it on 4 April 2027, depending on snow conditions. We teach every day of the season; the exact opening date is set by the resort.
How much does the lift pass cost in Baqueira this season?
In the 2026-27 season, a one-day adult lift pass is around €71.50 and the child's around €47.50; consecutive days work out cheaper. The adult season pass costs €1,300 if bought before 1 November and €1,400 after. There is a beginner pass for green runs for about €25. It is sold by Baqueira Beret, not the school: confirm it at baqueira.es.
Is parking in Baqueira free?
From the 2026-27 season, parking at Baqueira 1500 becomes paid: €1 per hour, with a maximum of €12 per day plus VAT. The Orri and Beret car parks remain free, and from Orri you reach Pla de Beret sooner. From the 1500 car park there is a free shuttle train to the slopes.
How do you get to Baqueira Beret?
You reach it through the Vielha tunnel, which is free and 5.2 km long, and then along the C-28. From Vielha, where our office is, it's about 20 minutes by car. Chains are mandatory in winter. There are also ALSA buses from Lleida and Barcelona. You choose the meeting point when you book (Baqueira 1500, Tanau 1700, Bonaigua or Orri) and we send you the exact location on WhatsApp the evening before.
